Unexpected facts about EV! Are EV's reliable?? Here all you need to know about EV..
You'll be amazed to know the facts that I'm going to present you now about EV. Let's find out why?
"Electric Vehicle" shortly 'EV', that demonstrate the automotive industry now-a-days. We all are very familiar about this topic now and bear very positive thoughts about this topic.
There are many answer's of the question "Why EV?" but the most logical and important reply/answer of this question would be "Renewable Energy". It is the single most important reason EV makes sense to the people and as well as to the EV owners.
EV's are most likely to be the future of the automotive industry due to this reason. But, this prediction could barely last 5-10 years from now. Why?? let's find out together.
Note: First of all I though of writing an article about positive and negative facts of EV but then I got amazed after researching about the Negative or Inconvenient facts of EV. It itself makes a huge article. So, today let's just focus on the facts that we should know must but we don't know! Another day we'll focus on the positive facts of EV.
We all expected electric cars to be the savior of our daily necessary transportation, but it created a 'Cobra Effect' unexpectedly! Don't know what 'Cobra effect' is? Well, when solution of a problem makes it worst that is called a Cobra Effect.
We thought EV's gonna lessen our dependency on fossil fuel, will emit zero green house gas and will be a perfect use of green energy but that's not happening exactly. Did you know about the facts I've mentioned below. Find it out!
Negative/ Inconvenient Facts of an Electric Car/Vehicle
[Facts are organized by importance one after another.]
Fact#1 Electric car's will hardly reduce oil use
Approximately there are 26 million electric cars on the road today. Physicist (Mark Mill) says, even if the world had reached 500 millions of 'Electric Car' users users that will reduce oil consumption about 10% only.
10%, that's not a bad percentage, but it's not a great amount that we expected. Most of the vehicles that consumes oil are, airplanes, buses, trucks, ships and mining vehicles not just cars.
Even if all the vehicles of the world becomes electric, it does not make the purpose of electric vehicle complete, which is greenery!
Lets find out why ⬇
Fact#2 Electric car's are not expectedly green
Most of electricity isn't green, 35% from coal, 23% from natural gas, 10% from nuclear which is not totally green, and 3% from oil, about 70% of worlds total electricity generation comes from non-renewable sources, which are being used to charge an electric car!
And not only that, digging up 500,000 pounds of earth's minerals and rocks usually needed to make a car battery. Where these mining process also burns a large amount of fossil fuels.
On the process of making an electric vehicle generates 10 to 20 tons of carbon-di-oxide, physicist(Mark Mill) says. These emissions occurs while mining, manufacturing and shipping an electric vehicle.
The process of manufacturing electric car battery itself emits a quarter of greenhouse gases produced by a traditional combustion cars full lifetime! We didn't expected that!!
"If the whole world reaches 140 million electric cars by 2030, the IEA(International Energy Agency) estimates that it'll reduce 190 million tons of CO2, which is barely 0.4 percent of global emissions!" says Bjorn Lomborg on The Daily Telegraph.
Fact#3 Batteries are really inefficient at storing energy
An electric car battery weights 1000 pounds which is equivalent to 80 pounds of gasoline power, Mark Mill says.
You might say but gasoline, we can change it whenever it get finished, but for a car batterie it stays permanent. Well, it might stay permanent but the electricity is being used to carry that extra weight is not negligible, which is not properly efficient.
But even if the size and weight of battery can be reduced, it cannot be reduced dramatically like Iron man's suits power source, and it cannot be taken further than the laws of physics permits, says physicist
Fact#4 Electric cars cost more than their fuel dependent fellows
An average combustion car cost around $27-30,000 where an average electric car cost around $35-40,000. An average electric powered car cost at least $5,000 more than an average petrol/gas powered car.
Tesla's are costly, starts from $40,000 (Model 3) to all the way $75,000 (Model S) can go higher than $100,000. Although Chevy Bolt EV cost $27,500 but I think you'll choose other car at that price range if you go for looks, it's not bad looking exactly but I would say might choose other.
Other popular electric cars like Kia EV6 ($44 - 60,000), Nissan Ariya ($45 - 57,000), BMW i7 ($105,700), Hyundai Ioniq ($65,000) are costly. At this price range you'll get better fuel powered car's if you look for, like a 2024 Ford Mustang GT starts from $35 - $60,000).
Fact#5 Electric cars are time consuming
Around 90% of electric car owner also own a fuel dependent car. They prefer electric cars after combustion cars.
Slow recharging can also be a reason, where an average (60kWh) car battery takes 8 hours average recharging time on the other hand (20 gallon) tank takes average 3 mins highest 3mins 30 seconds.
Owning an electric car and then preferring it after a combustion car that you already own will push the planet at high risk, cause in the process of manufacturing an electric car has already emitted enough green house gases, and then not using it after owning one will be creating more greenhouse gases than simply using a gas powdered car for Lifetime.
An electric car will emit more CO2 for it's first 60 thousand kilometers(because of it's fuel dependent manufacturing process) than it’s fuel dependent fellows (gas/patrol cars).
Fact#6 Electric cars are less reliable
At low temperature the electron movement slows down, and as we know electrons flow makes the paths of electricity when it slows down it hampers to serve full power. So, low temperature reduces performance and hampers overall efficiency.
At high temperature ion/electron movement goes madness, it hits one another creates more temperature and drainage the battery as well as it decreases power and performance capability of a battery.
Running or parking an EV on high temperature causes permanent degradation of EV battery.
All these things are blowing the mind now, huh? Let's find out just a little more ⬇
Some extra relevant information
Prior to the pandemic (2019) 51 gigatons of green house gases are being produced over the year, it reduced to 31 gigatons during pandemic(2020) for the reduction of industrialization, commerce and world wide travel globally.
[ However, in 2022, the emission increased by 1.4% compared to 2021, reached 53.8 gigatons which is 2.3% higher than prior pandemic (2019).]
Where transportation was responsible for 16% of the total green house gases, where industry and agriculture produces 43% and 33% of total green house gas emissions.
At 16.2% refers to 8 Gigatons of green house gases from transportation are HGVS (Heavy Goods Vehicles)/ Vans, Trains, Shipping, Aviation, Buses, and Cars (45% of transportation ~ 3.6 gigatons).
47.4 gigatons or 93% of greenhouse gases are being produced every year excluding cars.

Conclusion
So, all these research and article information may bring the question why EV's then?
Even though electric cars only helps a little to lessen the green house gas emission but a great step humankind ever taken. The statistic and information we've gathered here might change dramatically on the upcoming year.
Before internet became popular we all expected it as different things about it, some took bad side some expected no future of it, but later it changed the world totally. Impacted largely among humankind. And it became possible by the advancement of science and technology.
Our technology and innovation power is increasing day by day. The step that we took to decrease global green house emission through EV's, it could lead us to a major change 10 years from now.
All the new innovations electric, hydrogen powered, rotary engine(by Mazda) became possible through our thirst of saving the world from green house emission. We, the science and technology will invent more reliable technology through this process of advancing research on projects like EV's we're dealing now.
Many of the countries started banning fossil-fuel powered cars taking the automotive industry to green era. Like UK, from 2035 it will ban fuel powered car selling. US will take the electric car sales half by 2030.
I don't think the process of creating Electric Vehicle has some bad intentions, although it impacts badly on poor countries like Congo, South Africa we must look for other ways to mining for a car battery rather than destroying a country and it's people.
One of the most convenient facts of EV is, petrol and diesel engine can converts highest 40% of the energy provided to useful as driving force, where an electric car reaches more than 90% of it's efficiency. That's why we're so hopeful on Electric Vehicles.
Some more things you might want to know
China is the exceptional country in this subject
China has the most amount of electric car's, about 10 million, that is one third of worlds total electric car.
China, with the highest numbers of EV users at the same time it is the most responsible country among the world for greenhouse gases. They have 1142 coal powered power stations, they contribute15.7 gigatons of greenhouses gases every year to the planet which is 29.2% of worlds total green house gas emission.
After China, US (6 gigatons)11.2%, India (3.9 gigatons) 7.3%, EU27 (3.6 gigatons) 6.7%, Russia (2.6 gigatons) 4.8% and Brazil (1.3 gigatons) 2.4% a 2022 study published by JRC(Joint Research Center) 2023. Collected from EDGAR GHG emission.
Coming back to China, it is the largest green electricity producer country of the world. 31% of global electricity is being produced by China alone. After China US contributes 11% of global renewable electricity.
China is investing a huge amount on renewable energy sector. They've the largest offshore energy generation(30 million kW), largest manufacturing of solar energy, 55 Nuclear power stations, 4(of worlds 6 largest) massive hydro power projects they're rich in this sector.
Statistics says although it took around 6 years to reach 10% of global vehicle market share, but it'll take just 6 more years to reach 80% of worlds total market share.
Some are stepping from making EV for low demand like General Motors. But comparatively EV sells will rise highly on upcoming years.
